Scott bikes and accessories in the K2 bike shop

Scott bikes and accessories in the K2 bike shop
Among the bike brands in the K2 Shop range, Scott is now on the table.

The selection of both bikes and accessories is currently the widest in Hungary, as K2 Shop has been an official Scott distributor for years.

What do you need to know about the Scott brand?

It all started in 1958, when Ed Scott, a talented competitive skier engineer from Sun Valley, Idaho, made aluminum ski poles for the first time instead of the bamboo or steel models that were common until then. The innovation founded a successful company, SCOTT started producing accessories in several sports. In motocross, they became famous for their glasses, and in cycling, Greg Lemond's time trial steering wheel was the first innovation that made the brand famous in the sport all over the world. Thanks to this, the American overcame Laurent Fignon in the time trial and won the Tour de France in 1989.

In mountain biking, the self-developed mountain bike telescope, the Unishock, was a minor breakthrough in 1991, and then the carbon mtb frame created in 1995, the Scott Endorphin, was the beginning of a long success story that continues to this day. In 2003, the American manufacturer shook the XC/Marathon world from a technical point of view with the Genius all-wheel drive model, whose suspension offered three switchable positions: lock out/traction/all-travel. The veteran Thomas Frischknecht - whose name is synonymous with Scott bikes, still Nino Schurter's mentor at the Scott factory team - won the MTB marathon world championship in the saddle of Genius.

The American manufacturer, famous for its innovations, was also not idle on the country road. In 2007, the world's lightest series-produced carbon frame, the Scott Addict, was launched on the market, weighing 790 grams. On the mountain bike line, the hardtail Scott Scale produced similarly impressive weight figures. In 2010, with the Twin Loc levers developed for Scott fullys, it was possible to control the front and rear suspension from the handlebars at the same time, and these levers are still the best working parts on the market.

Sports successes

In the last decade, after Thomas Frischknecht, at least in terms of his results, the name of an even brighter star, Nino Schurter, has been the hallmark of the Scott brand. From 2012, for example, the Swiss star made the 27.5 wheel size a success on the XCO racetracks, even if since then Scott also voted in favor of the 29" in the cross country discipline. In 2016, a unique success was achieved at the Rio Olympics: both the men's and women's MTB XCO gold medals were won by Schurter and Sweden's Jenny Rissveds. And we could continue the sporting successes with Schurter's more and more victories, or Simon Yates' results at the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a Espana on the national road.

Products that shape trends

The secret of Scott bikes, however, is not that the marketing machine works by giving them to the right riders. It is more about continuous development, in the Swiss-American center they spend a lot on innovations, so that a given model is the most modern and the best on the market in a given year. This can often be seen on the price tag, but by buying a top model from Scott, everyone can be sure that they are getting the current top technology for their money.
Of course, our Scott bicycle range includes not only premium mountain bike, road, cross, trekking and e-bike models, but our customers can also choose Scott quality in the middle category. And we mustn't forget about the accessories, shoes, clothing, glasses, head protectors, or even the accessory parts of the bicycle that hide similar innovations. You can actually dress up a Scott bike completely, so that the overall look is the coolest, and riding the bike is as comfortable as possible.
