Nino Schurter won the World Cup gold in a great battle, which was helped by the brand new Scott Spark RC.
It would have been a difficult task to perfect the most successful XCO all-terrain mountain bike of the past 5 years, which is why Scott's engineers did not choose this path when developing the new Spark. The 2022 Scott Spark was designed according to a completely new concept, in which only a pivot point suspension, well-proven for cross-country, was kept.
The Spark RC, developed in the spirit of integration, has been renewed in every other aspect, and has been tuned to the ever-increasingly difficult XCO tracks. Front and rear, the spring travel increased to 120 mm, while the weight of the complete frame set increased by only a few grams. An even bigger change is that the spring strut has been placed inside the frame.
Since in the field of carbon fabrics and processing they are already working with "space technology" in the bicycle industry, a light (with 120 mm spring travel, the frame set is 1870 grams including members) and reliable construction was created in this way, which has several advantages:
- the strut is protected from the elements, scratches, and anything else
- the whole suspension became stiffer, especially in terms of twisting
- the use of larger diameter bearings gave itself, which also has a good effect on the rigidity of the construction and the expected lifetime of the bearings is also longer.
Among the disadvantages, everyone first thinks that the strut is more difficult to access, install and install. Well, that's not the case, most forums claim that with the easy-to-remove cover and SAG-check slot, everything is just as easy to do as with the traditional layout. In fact, since the cover is at the bottom, it is advisable to put the bike on a stand for adjustments.
The integration didn't stop at the stem, as the Syncross Fraser IC SL carbon handlebar-stud combo was also designed in such a way that the brake cables run together at the bottom of the stem and through the head tube into the frame. So there is no hole behind the front tube on the frame. The brake cable only emerges directly at the rear brake caliper. The TwinLoc cables closing the telescopes have also been made to disappear, and due to the placement of the spring strut, it is even easier to route than on the previous model.
The equipment of the bike on the bike used by Nino Schurter is obviously the best possible, but of course the bike will be available with several specifications. Good news for our dear customers, that 3 test bikes will arrive in the K2 Shop, so you can try the Scott Spark RCs. Of course, there will also be a slightly more "playful" Spark for trails, with 130 mm of travel, also with several specifications.
